Colombo: Sri Lanka is planning to end the nationwide lockdown from October 1, as health officials feel that the corona situation in the country has improved and now is the right time to lift the curfew. Neighboring Sri Lanka was also greatly affected by the second wave of Corona.

Corona found under control?

The Sri Lankan government imposed a nationwide lockdown on 20 August and extended it three times, as health officials battled a third wave of the virus since mid-April. But now the administration feels that the deteriorating situation of Corona has been controlled and there is no need for lockdown.

In the government, Minister for Plantation Ramesh Pathirana said, 'Sri Lanka is ready to end the lockdown from October 1. Health officials say that the current situation is conducive to lifting the curfew and the government expects to resume normal operations in the country from next week.

General Shavendra Silva, the head of the Sri Lankan Kovid Task Force and military commander, said, 'Public transport operations will be resumed under health guidelines.' According to John Hopkins University, 12,731 people have died due to corona virus in Sri Lanka so far while the total cases have gone up to 5,14,952 till Tuesday.
